an addictive iPhone game that will not let quit

Upon first glance, there didn’t seem to be a whole lot in iKick that would inspire anyone to keep playing the game over and over. And that is coming from someone who can’t seem to keep away from games even when he should be working! The graphics of this iPhone game are fairly rudimentary, with little more than the football field on the display and a scoreboard at the top. After I had played it for a while however, the game slowly began to grow on me, and I quickly found myself drawn to its simple yet captivating gameplay.

The object of the game is quite simple; all you have to do is keep the ball from falling onto the lawn by tapping its bottom. Each tap adds a point to your score, and the game always saves the highest score. Simple, right? Where it becomes absolutely engrossing however is when you realize that it takes quite a bit of patience to get the tapping right. Before long, you will find yourself inexplicably drawn to the game whenever you turn on your iPhone, and you will likely always want to sneak in a game or two before anything else.

What iKick may lack in sheer graphics “wow” factor, is more than made up for in the game’s sound effects quality. It’s clear that lot of work went into this aspect of the game, and the sounds really add a lot to the realism of the game. You almost get the sense that you are in an actual football field…well, as close as you can get playing an iPhone game at least! The way the ball bounces is quite accurate and life-like whenever you manage to tap it to the sides or the top of the screen.

Future releases of iKick promise to add even more options, which should make this a game to look out for in the future. In any case, at the cost of a measly $0.99, this iPhone game is definitely worth checking out.
